Work/fun/I'm going to Bali :)

Been pretty exhausted lately. I get up, head to the office - try to get as much work done as possible and then head home by 8pm where I will space out for an hour before doing something more productive like reading or writing.

Yesterday, I started readng a book called "My Feudal Lord" by Tehmina Durrani. Halfway through, I got impatient and started speed reading through the remaining pages. I know the book is supposed to be a reflection of societal repression and the status of women in Pakistan...but it was such a dysfunctional marriage that I got annoyed reading about how people got manipulated and remained trapped because of their ego. And irritated because there's still so much marginalization going on even today. Anyway, I will continue reading it when I'm in a more appreciative mood.

By the way, I have increased my wedding count to 4 for next year! Woah! Am about to book the air tickets to the one held in Bali end of Jan 2007. :) I can't wait!

Work has been kinda stressful and there's lots to do....the good thing is that I am constantly occupied, the flipside is I have to zone out when evening comes. Which was why I was glad to have made the decision to skip my gym session -- kick boxing night to hang out with Jana in the neighborhood tonight! :)

Now the area I live in is like a watered down version of India. They drive like they are in India and the people are generally loud minus the random animals on the streets. Sorry, no cows here! Food is good and I get my regular dose of chai so I'm happy. Plus I live 5 mins from work...which is even better given that my brain starts work at 10am and I get to sleep in really late every day!

There is a big "festival" happening right now called Ramadan -- actually it's more like a religious observance and the Muslims will fast all day before breaking fast at sunset. We kinda do that too at MindValley because we forget to eat lunch sometimes(record for lunchtime is 3:40pm). But there's a lesser known festival called NAVARATHRI. So Jana (trainee from Germany) and I went to the Temple of Fine Arts to watch a Bharatanatyam performance and hung out at the night market later. We kinda missed half the performance as we got lost walking to the temple...but the night market was cool and I got myself some cool Indian bangles. Green to suit the festival colors and well, it's my next favorite color to red (which explains why I LOVE christmas!) We then got rojak (mixed vege dish) and I got my late dinner (fried noodles). I'm glad I gave the silly kick-boxing class a miss today.

I'm off to Singapore tomorrow! My monthly trip to visit Mummy and Daddy! ;)

And I get to ride Pooters -- MooMoo's scooter on Saturday! YES!

Yay! 2 weddings in Europe next year!

Thank God It's Friday! (well, the fun started since Wednesday but that's a story for another time. heh!)

It's been an intense...super intense Friday at MindValley. I haven't stopped tapping away at my lappy since 10:30am (ohkay, so that's the time I start work).

But there was a great news from Poland today! Anne and Uncle D are getting engaged! Woot! They used to work at MindValley and left about 1 month back...aww...

Yay Europe! I can't wait!

Focus: Our neighbor - Thailand

I have to admit, it's been awhile since I've read the papers or watched the news. I've been pretty out of touch with what is happening around the world. So imagine my surprise when Asier asked me about the military coup in Thailand, and to realize that the Prime Minister (now ex) had issued a statement from London saying he would "take a deserved rest".

Woah! Thailand has just overthrown the Thaksin administration!

How is it that no one is talking about this in Malaysia?

Brasil...

Just returned from a wonderful dinner at a Brazilian restaurant...certified to be quite authentic by Rafha. ;)

My goodness, I've never had so much meat in my life....they kept coming and I couldn't even eat fast enough to clear space on my plate! I wish I had brought my camera to show how superb the food was.

And with a Caipirinha to go with the meal, I guess this is the closest to Brasil I would ever get.

Now I need to go lie down and let the food digest.

Kudos to Rafha for bringing us out there....(albeit 2 guys and 9 girls. heh!)

Mosquito Repellant

It's been raining alot in Kuala Lumpur...and my home has become the breeding ground for MOSQUITOES!

After enduring sleepless nights with the blood-sucking winged creatures...my house-mates and I made a trip to the supermarket to get insect repellant. When we got there, there were shelves of insect sprays and anti bug pellets. I've only used coil repellants but I guess people have gotten sophisticated when it comes to "killing" and now you can get these kits that are plugged into a socket and produce vapor to chase the bugs away!

With so many varieties, we ended up buying 3 different products (varying prices) and raced home to plug the kit into the electrical outlets in each of our rooms.

I guess tonight will be a test to see who has the best product. Ready, go!
